In 1935, police arrested a black man, John Coffey ( Michael Clarke Duncan ), suspected of murdering two white girls. The man pleads not guilty. He claims that he only wanted to help them, but because of his skin colour and the lack of evidence and other suspects, no one wants to believe his story. The court finds him guilty and gives him a death sentence, where the head guard of the prison is Paul Edgecomb (Tom Hanks). His duties include taking convicts to the electric chair. The corridor he walks through is called the Green Mile because of the colour of the linoleum on the floor. Whenever he saw criminals die, he was convinced of their guilt. This time it’s different.
